Ikealene "Ikey" Paschal Ware

On February 28, 2025, Ikealene “Ikey” Paschal Ware entered into heaven’s gates after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on September 5, 1954, in Reidsville, North Carolina to Issac and Gaynell Paschal. Ikey graduated from Reidsville Senior High School in 1972. She also completed her associate’s degree in criminal justice from Kaplan College, which she was most proud of.

To know Ikey, was to love her. Her bubbly and infectious personality was cherished by her friends and her family. Her smile would always light up any room she entered. Her love for her grandchildren was enormous. She always bragged on all seven of them every chance she could. As a mother, she had an unwavering love for her son, Brian and daughter, Samantha. She always ended every conversation with “I love you every single day of my life.” Ikey had a lot of friends but her very best friend had to be her sister Debra. During her best times and her darkest, Debra was the first person she wanted to talk to. No one spent more time with her than her two dogs, Miko and Cookie, who she always referred to as her babies. They gave her the most love and comfort day and night.

Ikey never traveled far away from home but when she did travel, it was always to the mountains, which she said gave her the most peace. In her younger years, she loved to sing. She was a part of The Messengers Quartet in the late 70’s. This gave her the opportunity to travel and sing God’s word with her beloved sister. In her later years, she developed a love for coloring. She received many awards and her portraits were featured in coloring magazines.

Ikey was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ike and Gaynell Paschal. She was also preceded by her brother, Vince Paschal. She is survived by her son, Brian Land and wife Amanda of Granbury, Texas, daughter, Samantha Moore of Greensboro, North Carolina. Her sister, Debra Carden and husband, Richard, sister-in-law, Donna Paschal, her seven grandchildren, Brian “B” Land, Tyler Land, Raymond Heller, Kamerin Heller, Alyssa McDonald, Jakari McDonald, and Ayanna McDonald, three nieces,  one nephew, aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends.
