India McCollum Stone

India McCollum Stone, 100, passed away at her home on January 9, 2025. 

 Funeral services will be held Monday, January 13, 2025, at 3 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Nick Decker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at her home. 

 India was born in Rockingham County January 4, 1925, to the late John Clayton McCollum and Georgia Adkins McCollum. She retired from The American Tobacco Company in Reidsville. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

 Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Everette Stone; brothers, Henry Clayton McCollum, Paul Thomas McCollum, and sister Elizabeth McCollum Carter. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Stone Vaden (Kenneth); son, Charles Anthony Stone (Martha); grandchildren, Kelly Vaden Hart (Mark), Kaleb Vaden, Kurt Vaden (Shari), Katie Vaden Rust (Kevin), Amanda Stone Thomas (Dan); great-grandchildren Jacob Vaden, Clayton Hart, Dakota Cornett, William Vaden, Lilly Hart, Grace Rust, Ella Kate Rust, and Hazel Grace Vaden; sister, Nancy McCollum Moricle and sister-in-law June Cobb Stone. 

 India faithfully attended Woodbine Methodist Church as long as her health would allow. The family would like to express our gratitude to her caregivers, Kimberly Peterman, Gina Ledbetter, Charlene Benfield Martin, Jada Smith, Abby Peterman, and Katie Carter. 

 In lieu of flowers, contributions can may be made to Ancora Compassionate Care and Mount Carmel Cemetery Fund.
