Brown Summit - Iola Andrews Green, 96, of 8016 Old Reidsville Road, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Blumenthal Jewish Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Monticello United Church of Christ, 5001 NC Hwy 150 East, Brown Summit with Rev. Gary Owens officiating. Entombment will follow in Green Family Memorial Gardens, 8017 Old Reidsville Road, Brown Summit. Mrs. Green was born on August 14, 1915 in Guilford County, NC and was the daughter of the late Wesley and Roxie Smith Andrews. She was a homemaker and the oldest living member of the Monticello United Church of Christ. Iola was a committed woman of faith that enjoyed teaching Sunday school, being a Deaconess, Deaconess Emeritus and a member of the Women's Fellowship. Mrs. Green enjoyed spending time with her children and taking them to the mountains and the beach on vacation early in life and later she enjoyed taking cruises all over the world. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Lee Green; son, Tommy Green; brother, Irvin Andrews; sisters, Leora Minor, Essie Ingold, Hazelene Moore; grandson, Ricky Lee Green and granddaughter, Kathy Green Phifer.Mrs. Green is survived by her children, Bobby Lee Green of Greensboro, Dean Green and wife, Marilyn of Greensboro, Peggy Rich and husband, Gordon of Monticello and Judy Hardin and husband, Glen of Monticello; Nine grandchildren; Twenty great-grandchildren; Four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Kernodle; caregivers, Pam Flagle of fourteen years, Tammy Hundley of eight years, June Arnold, Tamera Bennet, Jeanette Apple and Susan Lambly.The family will receive friends Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home, 1909 Richardson Drive, Reidsville from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. They will also receive friends other times at the home, 8016 Old Reidsville Road, Brown Summit.Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Green's Honor to either The Foundation Fighting Blindness, 4600 Marriott Drive, Suite 340, Raleigh, NC 27612 or to the Monticello United Church of Christ Building Fund, 5001 NC Hwy 150 E.
