Irene Hall Mabe, 93, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Pelican Health.
Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Evergreen Memory Gardens with Pastor Nathan Chapmon officiating.
Irene was born in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late, Claude and Anna Johnson Hall. She graduated from Bethany High School, worked at American Tobacco for several years and later retired from Lorillard after 30 years of service. Irene was known for baking her famous fruit cakes and grooming poodles. Irene lived in faith proclaiming the promises of God and she always wanted to leave one last message for her family and friends, “I hope to see you in heaven one day!”
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands J.T. Stevens, George Smith and Walter Mabe; sisters Mary H. Mabe and Geneva Hall; brothers Claude Hall, Jr., Richard Hall, Harry Lee Hall, Billy Hall and Bobby Hall.
Irene is survived by her sons, Lufty Stevens and Veronica Harris and Donnie Smith and wife Wanda; grandchildren Scott Smith and wife Angie, Jay Stevens, and Sherrie Stevens; great grandchildren Erin Comer, Alex Comer, Samantha Stevens, Hollie Eanes and Landon Eanes; great-great grandchildren Elliot, Jaylan, and Emery; brother Kenneth Hall and wife Jackie; special friends Jim and Jan Hearn and family; and a large extended family.
