Irene Allen Southard

Reidsville - Irene Allen Southard, 89, of 2505 Sunnycrest Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Carolina House.Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lyle Milligan officiating. There will be a private burial at Reidlawn Cemetery. Mrs.Southard was born on September 12, 1922 in Rockingham County to the late, Thomas Harrison and Hattie Mae Paschal Allen. She retired from American Tobacco Company with over 35 years of service. Irene was a faithful member of Baptist Temple. She enjoyed traveling and was known as a world traveler. Among her other interests, she enjoyed dancing and spending time with her friends. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Irvin Southard; brothers, Cleo Allen, Cummings Allen and William Allen; sister, Evelyn Wilkins.She is survived by her nieces, Judy Allen of Reidsville and Dale Loftis of Eden.The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Wilkerson Funeral Home 5 -6 pm.The family wishes to thank all of Irene caregivers, Misty Atkins, Wanda Cayton Hairston, Latoya Smith, Pam Smith, Julie Thomas and all the caregivers at Carolina House for the love and special care they gave Irene during her illness.
