Irma Chrismon Smith

Reidsville – Mrs. Irma Chrismon Smith, 89, of 3647 Vance Street Ext., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at her residence with her husband at her side. A funeral service will held at First Baptist Church on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Bill Duke and Rev. Stephen Rust officiating. Burial will follow in Reidlawn cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. Mrs. Smith was born January 26, 1926 in Guilford County, the Osceola community to the late Robert Lee and Betty Jane Chrismon. Irma moved to Reidsville as a child and graduated from Reidsville Senior High School. She was employed at various times by Southern Railway, an accountant for Deal Calhoun, and Wilkerson Funeral Home. She was married to Richard Smith in 1960. She was a loving wife and a devoted mother and especially loved flowers. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as treasurer for many years. Irma was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Aubrey Lee Chrismon; and a sister, Erlene Gunn. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 55 years, Richard Smith; a son, Richard Smith, Jr. of Eden; nieces Elizabeth Ferguson, Priscilla Williams, and Ameila Benfield; and sister-in-law Mary Chrismon; and numerous cousins.
