Ivan Thomas Handy

Greensboro – Ivan Thomas Handy, 71, of 213 Highway 150 West, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Beacon Place in Greensboro. Funeral services will held at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Philadelphia Baptist Chapel with Rev. Joe Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. Ivan was born in Elkin, NC to the late Thomas and Mattie Handy. He worked with Cummings Diesel for 30 years and then went to work with the City of Greensboro until retirement. He attended Philadelphia Baptist Chapel and was an excellent mechanic and put that to good use in racing go-carts for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy O. Handy; son, Tommy Handy and wife, Melissa; daughter, Dena; grandchildren, Austin and Joshua Dean, Aaron, Adam and Alex Handy; great grandchildren, Kaydence and Serenity Dean; brother, Johnny Handy and wife, Kay, all of Greensboro; sister, Carrie Lou Stewart and husband, Jimmy of AL. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Friday, November 24th from 6:00- 8:00 PM and other times at the residence.
