Reidsville: Jack Russell Baynes, 86, Peacefully passed away on the morning of May 24th, 2017, in his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11A.M., Saturday, May 27th, 2017, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Clayton officiating. A burial with military honors will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 P.M to 9 P.M on Friday May 26th, 2017 at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Jack was born on May 20, 1931, in Reidsville to the late Russell F Baynes and Nellie C Baynes. He served in the United States Army honorably for 21 years. He went on to retire from H.U.D of Reidsville after many years of service. He was a fraternal brother of the Masonic lodge, 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He loved NASCAR but most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother F.O Baynes and his sister Nellie B Miller
Jack is survived by his wife Cleah S. Baynes; daughters, Janet B. Knight (Ronnie) Susan B. Reeves (Eddie), Beverly A. Baynes, Cheryl B. Williamson (Barry), Pam Catlett (chosen child)(Scott); grandchildren, Russell Knight, Laura Nobles, Trey Minter, Thomas Minter, Curtis Baynes, Cameron Williamson, Danny Owens II and Anthony Owens; great grandchildren, Nathanial Knight, Ellis Minter; sister, Mattie Rebecca Wilson along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Hospice of Rockingham County.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
