Ruffin – Jack Courts Ellington, 80, of 3100 Guerrant Springs Road, passed away on Wednesday, June 15th, 2011 at Penn Nursing Center.Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, June 17, 2011 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Dr. Keith Carroll and Rev. John Stein officiating. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.Mr. Ellington was born in Rockingham County and was the son of the late, Jeff and Mae Page Ellington. He was a farmer his whole life and was a longtime and faithful member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of both, the Oregon Hill Fire Department and the Antique Engine Association. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Travis Ellington.Mr. Ellington is survived by his children, Jackie Ellington of the home and Donna Ellington Lester and husband, Lewis of Summerfield; his grandchildren, Jacob and Jenna Lester; his brothers, Earl Ellington and wife, Betty Sue of Eden and James Ellington and wife, Betty Carol of Reidsville; brothers-in-law, James Travis of Reidsville and Allen Travis and wife, Bonnie of Greensboro; sisters-in-law; Ida Lee Jones and Frances Barts, both of Reidsville.The family will receive friends, Thursday, June 16 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at his home. In lieu of flowers, the family would like for memorial contributions to may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, Cemetery Fund, 361 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.
