Jack Dempsey Evans, 86 of 706 McCoy Road passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at Wesley Long Community Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Happy Home Congregational Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Bruce McBride officiating. Jack was born in Rockingham County to the late T.G. and Elizabeth Hughes Evans. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a retiree of Service America Corporation. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Shore Evans; daughter, Debra Evans; son, Randy Evans; brother, George Lindsey Evans; sisters, Irene Evans Spangler, Mildred Evans Spangler and Margaret Evans Boyter. Survivors include his grandchildren, Katie Reddick, Dillon Reddick, Noelle Reddick and Oliva Reddick; sisters, Mary Spangler, Betty Ballinger, Nancy Saunders and Frances Smallwood; brothers, Bill Evans and David Evans. There will be no formal visitation. Wilkerson Funeral Home is assisting the family and condolences may be made to the family at www.wilkersonfuneral.com
