Jackie Akers Martin

Providence – Jackie Akers Martin, 70 of 811 Walters Mill Road, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Evergreen Memory Gardens.Mr. Martin was born on May 31, 1939 to the late Charlie and Sadie Martin. He was of the Baptist faith and attended Shady Oak Baptist Church. Jackie enjoyed working out in his garden growing an endless supply of vegetables, helping house missionaries from all over the world but most of all he loved his family. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Martin and brothers; William and Bill Martin.He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy Martin of the home; son, Todd Martin and wife, Teresa of Reidsville; grandchildren, Kara Ann Martin of Reidsville, Ryan Martin from the home, Daniel Martin and Andrea Cole, both of Reidsville.The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Alamance/Caswell County, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
