James Lawrence Eugene Bearden, 82, passed away Thursday morning, June 23, 2016 at Beacon Place in Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Burton Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in Reidsville with Rev. Ronnie Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00- 2:00 PM also at Burton Memorial Baptist Church; other times at the home.
Mr. Bearden was born in Chilton County, Alabama to the late Milford Bearden and Lily Deason Bearden. He served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, carpentry and gardening. He was faithful to his family and his church. Eugene served in various occupations including being a truck driver and worked with the state maintenance department. Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by a sister, Tiny Driver.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ellen Louise Bearden of the home; daughters: Patricia Pegram and husband, Danny of King, Brenda Thacker and husband, Frank of Reidsville, Theresa Moore and husband, Steve of Reidsville; sons: David Bearden and wife, Beverly of Reidsville and Charlie Carty and wife, Patsy of Greensboro; grandchildren: Kelly Carty, Danielle Cockerham, Dan Pegram, Jonathan Thacker, Rebekah Boyd, Brent Moore, Dylan Bearden and Brad Hemric; great grandchildren: Katie, Haley, Logan, Ryan, Tyler, Aiden, Avaleigh, Kaitlyn and Charli; one brother, Leon Bearden and wife, Linda of Marbury, Ala.; and several step sisters.
