Greensboro – James “Jim” Edward Bober, 54 born into eternal life on October 25, 2012 at home surrounded by family and friends after surviving 7 years with advanced prostate cancer. Jim was known for his "Bober Wit" and Bad Joke Fridays. Jim was born in Albany, New York to the late Edward and Mildred Hernandez Bober who he adored. He was a retiree of Old Republic Insurance and a former employee of The Hartford. He was a member of Center United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday School with the Ambassadors for Christ and was also a member of the United Methodist Men. Jim especially enjoyed his time spent with the Empty Nester's. He saw beauty in all of nature, including going to the Outer Banks, sailing, and caring for wildlife. He was an avid Steelers and Dodgers fan and enjoyed attending Nascar races. But most of all, Jim loved his family, his church family, God, and his friends. Surviving are his loving wife, Cheryl Bober; his children whom he cherished, Jessica Bober and Christopher Bober; brother, Thomas Bober (Chris); sisters, Sharon Scelsi (Mike), Nancy Shakow (Dave), Margaret Del Signore and Theresa Ely (Dan); numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Pepper and Gucci. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Center United Methodist Church with Rev. Suzanne Michael officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 7-9 PM at Center United Methodist Church and other times at the residence at 7514 Fairhaven Road. Memorial Contributions may be made to Center United Methodist Church, 6142 lake Brandt Road, Greensboro, North Carolina 27455.
