James Attion Craven

Mr. James Attion Craven, 84, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A graveside service will be held 4:00 PM Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Visitation with the family will be following the graveside service and other times at the home of his son. James was born in Guilford County to the late Jacob Yancey Craven and Beulah Mae Younts Craven. He had an easy going personality and was willing to help anyone at anytime. His sense of humor made him a great husband, father, and grandfather. James retired from Karastan after 39 years. His hobbies included gardening, both vegetable and flower gardens. He loved his animals. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a longtime member of Maplelawn Baptist Church. Along with his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife, Vernell; and sisters: Doris Welch, Mary Bailey and Lodena Corum. Survivors include his son, Carl Craven and wife, Betty of Reidsville; daughters: Judy Fagge and husband, Paul of Stoneville and Lori Jobe of Kernersville; grandchildren: Allyson Fagge, Olivia Fagge, Michelle Richards and husband, John and great grandchildren: Logan Richards, Meagan Richards and Dylan Richards; a sister, Sarah Carter and husband, Warren; a brother, Jacob Craven and wife, Jean; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Home of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375. A special thank you to Meagan for the kind and loving care she gave to Papa James during his illness.
