James Curtis "Cotton" Lipford, 83, of 8971 NC Highway 700, passed away peacefully at
Moses Cone Hospital on February 1, 2017.
A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church, Pelham, NC with The Reverend Lee Eggers officiating. The interment will be in Highland Burial Park, Danville, Virginia.
Mr. Lipford was born January 13, 1934 in Rockingham County to the late Mamie Gatewood Lipford and James Lee Lipford. He was a graduate of Ruffin High School, an Army veteran, and a Department Manager with US Gypsum in Danville, Virginia, until his retirement in 1996. Mr. Lipford was a member of Hickory Grove United Methodist Church where he enjoyed serving as an usher.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Odessa Pryor Lipford; sisters, Elsie Lipford and Doris Lipford Wilson, and a brother, Ben Lipford. He is survived by daughter, Rhonda Early Walsh of Reidsville, NC; son, Paul Bennett Early, Jr., and wife, April of Stoneville, NC; grandchildren, Shelton Pryor Early and Paul Bennett Early, III also of Stoneville; brothers Sanford Lipford and wife, Barbara, Claude Lipford and wife, Carolyn, and Jack Lipford and wife, Betty all of Ruffin, NC and Mack Lipford and wife, Pat of Greensboro, NC; sister, Zona Lipford Oakes and husband, Glenn of Chatham, VA; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Glenda Mills Lipford and Frances Worsham Fair both of Eden, NC, Dorothy Pryor Collie of Ringgold, VA, Johnny Wilson of Axton, VA, Dot and Jim Early of Reidsville, NC and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on February 3, 2017 at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville and other times will be at the residence, 8971 NC 700.
