James Elmer DeLancey, Sr. 71, of 1510 Perkinson Road, Ruffin,passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Happy Home Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Bruce McBride officiating. The family will see friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00PM til 2:00PM. At other times they will be at the home. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors preformed by the Rockingham County Honor Guard.
James was born in Guilford County to the late Reid Elmer DeLancey and Willie Mae Shockley DeLancey and was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War. He was a retiree of Isometrics and a member of Happy Home Congregational Christian Church. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Holland and brother, Donald DeLancey.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Lillian Kay Edwards DeLancey; son, James Elmer DeLancey, Jr. and Brenda Gordenier; daughter, Tina Marie DeLancey Gregg and Neil Satterfield; mother, Willie Mae Shockley DeLancey and aunt, Margaret Fain.
