James Walter Dennis

Reidsville: James “Jim” Walter Dennis, 84, of 3720 Vance Street Extension passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Annie Penn Hospital. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 22 at Covington Wesleyan Church with Rev. Ralph Clayton officiating. The family will receive friends after the service in the Covington Family Life Center. Mr. Dennis was a native of Detroit, MI and was the son of the late Herbert and Ruby Dennis. He was a veteran serving in the US Army and the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver most of his working career and retired from Clawson Tank Company. During his years in Michigan, he attended the Salvation Army Church. He loved music, working outdoors on the farm, driving his tractor, watching sports and was an avid golf enthusiast. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his 4 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Leake Dennis of the home; daughter, Diane Dennis Gallup of Howell, MI; stepdaughters, Sharon Schlaff and husband, Ron of Waterford, MI, Robin Blitchok and husband, Marvin of Fenton, MI and Diane Cates and husband, Gary of Berea, KY; granddaughters, Morgan Gallup and Jessica Balko and her husband, Jay; great grandson, Marshall Balko; step grandsons, Sean Blitchok and wife, Jessica, Jamin Blitchok, Isaac Blitchok and wife, Christina, Ryan and Jarret Schlaff; sister, Judy Cormendy of Madison Heights, MI and numerous nieces and nephews.
