Reidsville – James E. Echols, 69, of 264 Rockingham Lake Road, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 7, 2013 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rudy Woods officiating. The burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens with military graveside rites.
James was a native of Rockingham County and was the son of the late, Edward and Alma Collins Echols. He served as a veteran in the US Army and was retired from Chase Precision Metals. He was a member of Oasis Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He especially loved his grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Wilson Echols and his son, Paul D. Echols.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Echols and Cathee Zbynski; his son, Mike Echols and wife, Liz all of Reidsville; grandchildren, CJ Echols, Ashley Belton and husband, Timmy and Taylor Zbynski; great grandchildren, Savannah and Hayden Belton; sisters, Betty Echols Lucas and husband, Larry of Reidsville and Shirley Echols Clifton and husband, Larry of Eden.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 PM, Wednesday, January 9, 2012 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at his home.
