Reidsville – James Edward O’Bryant, 81, of 420 O’Bryant Road, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009 at his home.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Hillsdale Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Billy Knight, Rev. George Roberson and Rev. Larry Scott officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donnie O’Bryant, David Oakley, Jack Dixon, Ellis O’Bryant, Robert Knight, James Knight, Dougald Patterson, Gary Walker, Milton Bailey, Dan Medley. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the EZ Street Cruisers Car Club.Mr. O’Bryant was born in Rockingham County to the late David Archie and Pauline Noah O’Bryant. He was a member of Hillsdale Primitive Baptist Church and an active participant at Midway Methodist Church. He was also a mason with the Jefferson Penn Masonic Lodge #384, a member of Methodist Men’s Ministry and the EZ Street Cruisers Car Club. He farmed for 50 years and loved gardening, golf, fishing and Oliver tractor restoration. Dedicated to his wife and family he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Irvin and Russell O’Bryant.Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth O’Bryant, daughters, Debi Stepp and husband, Ray, Donna Carter and husband, Steve; grandchildren, Heather Parrish and husband David, Steven Carter and James Stepp; great grandchildren, Carter and Luke Parrish; sister Barbara Lewis.The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Saturday, October 3rd from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and other times at the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth North Carolina 27375.
