Reidsville -James Edwin "Ed" Daniels, 77, of 183 Burton Road, died on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church, at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Michael Tillman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.Mr. Daniels, a native of Rockingham County, was the son of the late James and Elna Ward Daniels. Ed was a member of Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and loved to cook for church activities. He loved to play his guitar and for many years he played with a group of his friends at the Carolina House every Tuesday night, where he liked to sing and play country and gospel songs. Ed liked to hunt and fish and take care of his garden. Ed was owner and operator of his store and he served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jesse Clifton and step-son, Roy Clifton.Ed is survived by his wife of 17 years, Pat Daniels, of the home; son, Michael Clifton and wife, Dale of Ruffin; daughter, Connie Daniels of Mars Hill, grandchildren, Jesse Clifton, Zane Massie Cameron Bridges; step-children, Bill Evans and wife, Shelby, Daniel Evans and wife, Patsy, David Evans, Yvonne Stone and husband, Clayton, Dora Clifton, and Eunice Wright; step grandsons, Daniel Evans, Jr., Buck Stone and Kyle Loftis and step-granddaughter, Amy Fain.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at Ruffin Stacey Baptist Church from 7 to 9 P.M. and other times at residence.
