Reidsville – James Mercer Fleming, 91, of 1112 North Woodleigh Circle, died December
19, 2008 at Penn Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00
PM Sunday, December 21, 2008 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Gaylord Dix
officiating. The burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel United Methodist
Church Cemetery
with military graveside rites.
Mr. Fleming was born in Dayton, OH
to the late Martin and Eula Wilcutt Fleming. He was an Ordinance Commander for
the 3rd Infantry in the US Army serving during WWII. He was awarded
the Bronze Star for his service. He was the owner and operator of the Jim
Fleming Tank Company. Mr. Fleming was a member of First
Baptist Church
and was currently attending Trinity
Baptist Church.
He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club, a 32nd Degree Mason and
was also a Shriner. He was preceded in death by his wives, Elizabeth Pugh
Fleming and Mildred Jarrell Fleming.
Survivors include his brother,
Clifford Harry Fleming of Athens, AL; his sister, Helen Fleming Hunt of
Orlando, FL; his niece, Lisa Cantrell and husband, Jimmy of Madison; extended
family, Jerry Jarrell and wife, Jean; Agatha Eveland and husband, Barry; Barry Fleming
Cantrell and wife, Leanne along with their daughter, Condie; Danski Jarrell; Dana
Jarrell; Delain Akers and husband, Earl along with their children, Coleby and
Kylie; Rick Burmeister and wife, Heidy along with their daughter, Hadley; and
Jessica Jones and husband, Greg along with their children, Millie and Isabelle.
The family will receive friends on
Sunday, December 21, 2008, prior to the service from 2-3 PM at Wilkerson
Funeral Home.
