James Clyde Gallant

James Clyde Gallant, 94, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, August 13, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Brenda Newman officiating. Burial will follow at Reidlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, August 16th from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at Rick Gallant’s home, 706 Thomas Street, Reidsville, immediately following the service.

James was born in Indianapolis, Ind. to the late Elbert Clyde Gallant and Thressa Watts Gallant, moving to Reidsville, NC in 1985. James was a graduate of Lain Institute of Technology and worked for many years as an engineer and plant manager with Alcan Aluminum Corp, and various other companies and retired from GTE in Reidsville in 1989. He lived in many different states and traveled to several countries throughout his career.

He honorably served his country in the US Army during WWII and then Korea. He was a member of Lowes United Methodist Church and was a good Christian.

James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed baseball and played his share in college and in the Army. He was an avid UNC basketball fan, enjoyed trips to the beach, gardening and time with family and friends. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, of 70 years, Betty, a daughter, Tina Ann Sax and great grandson Abel Gallant.

He is survived by his sons, Rick Gallant and wife, Rose, Randal Gallant; his grandchildren, Heather Mitchell and partner Gilbert Dilks, Randy Gallant, Jr., Betty Gallant, James Lee Gallant and wife Hope, brother-in-law, George Dickison and wife, Gretchen. He also leaves behind eleven great grandchildren.
