James Dexter Harrelson

James Dexter Harrelson, 85 passed away on January 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, February 2, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Pope officiating. Friends and family will meet for the burial at 12:00 PM at Lakeview Memorial Park in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home, on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

He was born to the late Harley Feldman Harrelson and Cleo Coleman Harrelson on November 30, 1938, in Greensboro, NC. He married the love of his life, Deloris Kathleen Apple, on April 16, 1960, who preceded him in death in 2017.

James is survived by two loving daughters Donna Carter (Mike) of Ruffin and Vickie Williams (Rocky) of Browns Summit, two grandchildren, Lukas Williams and Cori Turner (Michael), a precious great-granddaughter, Blakely Turner, who brought him great joy, two loving sisters, Barbara Hunsucker and Marie Southern (Richard), and his only brother, Frank Harrelson (Brenda).

He was a long-time member of Hope River Church but attended Gospel Baptist Church with his family in his later years. His wish to remain at home would not have been possible without the loving support of his family. It would be an understatement to say that his family was close. He will forever be remembered as the loving daddy, brother and Popa that he was.
