James "Jim" Shelton Underwood

James “Jim” Shelton Underwood, 70, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 14, 2016 with Military Honors at Reidsville Christian Church with Rev. Shannon Newsome and Mr. John Sechrest officiating. Mr. Underwood was born in Guilford County and was the son of the late, Lewis B. Underwood and Lillian Lucille Stewart. Jim was very outgoing and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. Jim served in the US Army and in the Vietnam War and received three Purple Hearts while serving his country. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Along with his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Shelton Underwood and a brother, Harold Dean Underwood. Jim is survived by his wife Ann Yurich Underwood of the home; daughters: Pamela Lynn Black and husband, Steven of Stokesdale, Janee’ Underwood Sexton of Eden; son, James Cory Underwood of Greensboro; and daughter-in-law, Mary Underwood of Randleman; and 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. The family will receive friends on Monday June 13, 2016 from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville; other times at the home.
