James Allen Merricks

Reidsville– James Allen Merricks, 71, of 1105 Lawsonville Avenue, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at his home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dave Huggins officiating. James was born in Danville, Virginia to Desley Allen Merricks and the late Emitt Coleman Merricks. He was a retiree and co-owner of Merricks Insurance Agency, a lifetime member of First Baptist Church and a 32° Mason. A dedicated family man, Jim was a shining example of love, patience, kindness and charity.He is survived by his sons, Andrew Merricks and wife, Kalisha, James Merricks, Jimmy Merricks; daughter, Michelle Kelly and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Kevin, Jaccob, John, Elijah, Madison and Rachael Merricks, Alex and Matthew Davis; great grandchildren, Bethany, Bailey and Cali Skye; mother, Desley Merricks; brothers, E.C. Merricks, Jr. and wife, Millie, Wallace Gene Merricks and wife, Pat and Bobby Merricks and wife, Ilene.The family will receive friends on Friday, evening from 6-8 PM. Other times they will be at the home.
