Reidsville - James Elliott Montgomery, Sr. 64, passed away Monday, August 29, 2011 at Wesley Long Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Reid and Shannon Newsome officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. James was a lifelong resident of Reidsville, North Carolina. He was a retired foreman for Fluor Daniel and a lifelong member of Penn Memorial Baptist Church. James treasured times with his family and enjoyed his trips to Myrtle Beach. James is preceded in death by his parents Robert Lee Montgomery, Sr. and Gracie Hall Montgomery and his brother, Frank Montgomery.Survivors are his loving wife of 44 years, Judy Lookabill Montgomery; son, James Elliott "Jimmy" Montgomery, Jr. and wife, Christy of Eden, son Joseph "Joey" Scott Montgomery and wife, Tina of Reidsville; daughter, Janet Montgomery Lamberth and husband, David of Reidsville; stepson, Wayne Parrish and wife, Gretchen of Reidsville; grandchildren, Caleb and Daniel Parrish, Preston Montgomery, Jordan and Kara Lamberth; brother, Robert L. Montgomery, Jr. and special friend, Joan Wilkerson of Ridgeway, Va.; sisters, Rebecca Harrison and husband, Bob of Charlotte, Elizabeth Montgomery Powell of Reidsville, Judy Montgomery Blake and husband, John of Greensboro; several special nieces and nephewsThe family wishes to express their appreciation for the care and concern given to James by Dr. Eric S. Neijstrom and staff and Advanced Home Care.Visitation will be from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Wednesday, August 31st. 2011 at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Other times will be at the family residence, 301 Broad Street in ReidsvilleMemorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 4A Oak Branch Drive, Greensboro, NC 27407.
