James Elwood Moore

Reidsville: Elwood Moore, 76, of Reidsville, passed away on Thursday, September 4th, 2013. Mr. Moore was born on June 27, 1937 in Rockingham County to the late William Bryant and Carrie Carter Moore. He served in the United States National Guard and retired as general manager of Big Bill Bottling Company/Cheerwine with over thirty years of service. He loved fishing, golf and was a Brunswick Stew Master. He ate with his regular group at Short Sugar’s in the mornings at eight o’clock, followed by his regular visit to Reidsville Truck to visit with his friends. He loved his dog, Lucky and enjoyed working in the yard and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara R. Moore. Survivors include two daughters, Pam Holland and husband, Donnie; Phyllis White and husband Al, all of Reidsville; grandchildren: Jessica Holland, Heather Brown and husband, Jeff; Dusty White and wife, Alex; Al White, Jr.; great-grandchildren: McKayla White and Beth Barber; brothers: Donald Moore and wife Connie; Ralph Moore; sisters: Virginia McKay and husband, Junior; Mary Alice Page; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Gayle Ross and Wilson Ross; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to offer a special thank you to the 4700 Unit of Moses Cone Hospital for caring for their father. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 at 2 PM in Wilkerson Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Howell will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from six until eight in the funeral home and other times at 2767 Country Lane, Reidsville, North Carolina 27320. .
