Ruffin – James Curtis Richmond, Sr., born October 10, 1937 to the late Hurley and Netie Richmond, died on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at home with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Dan River Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Dan Parker officiating. Interment will follow in Mayfield Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites.
Curtis was a veteran of the US Navy and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He was a member of the Afton Road Primitive Baptist Church of Danville, VA. He was preceded in death by Jimmy’s mom, Laverne Roach Richmond; his sister Lois; and brothers Elvin and Billy.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda of 32 years. His sons are James “Jimmy” Richmond of Danville, VA who has daughter, Renee Rowland and husband, Jason, daughter, Tonya Yelton and husband, Brad, daughter Miranda Richmond and his son, Eric; his middle son is Ken Richmond and wife, Brandi of Boones Mill with one daughter, Lauren and son, Elijah; his last son, Kurt Richmond and wife, Beth of Charlotte, NC. In addition to the 6 grandchildren, there are 4 great grandchildren, Sonya and Caleb Rowland and Austin and Cody Yelton. With love for his numerous nephews and nieces and great love for his Uncle Lonnie Richmond and special love for his racing buddy, Mr. Ed Travis. He is also survived by his only remaining aunt, Grace Richmond White.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 from 7:00 – 9:00 PM. and other times at the residence, 1461 Guerrant Springs Road, Ruffin.
