James "Otis" Shelton

Reidsville – James “Otis” Shelton Sr., 92, of 7372 NC Hwy 87, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Annie Penn Hospital. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Wilkerson Funeral Home  with Rev. John Groff officiating. Mr. Shelton was born in Stokes County to the late William Steve and Jettie Amos Shelton.   He was a retired operator of the Shelton Sunoco in Reidsville.   Otis enjoyed playing golf, working in his garden and yard and being outdoors. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Moir and Russell Shelton.   Otis is survived by his son, James O. Shelton Jr. of Reidsville: daughters, Irene Pruitt and husband, Wayne of Reidsville and Hazel Puckett of Reidsville; grandchildren, David Pruitt and wife, Trish, Teresa Bruno and husband, Bob, Jennifer Puckett and husband, Peter Mackennan, Aaron Shelton and wife, Jennifer and Shannon Grillone; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy and Alvis Shelton; sister Marietta Joyce; 7 nieces and nephews; mother of his children, Lillian S. Shelton and caregiver, Edna Skidmore.   Visitation will follow the memorial service and the family will receive friends other times at the home of his daughter, Hazel Puckett, 1112 Baker Cross Road.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Reidsville Rescue Squad, 2100 Westover Drive, Reidsville,   NC   27320   or the charity of donors choice.   Condolences may be sent to the family at www.wilkersonfuneral.com
