James "Jimmy" Vernon Pierce

Reidsville, NC - James “Jimmy” Vernon Pierce, 76, of 705 Walters Street, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 23, 2009 at Annie Penn Hospital. Jimmy was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and enjoyed boating. He was of the Baptist faith and he loved the Lord, his close friends and family. He served our county in the United States Marine Corps and retired from Glidwell Brothers Construction Company. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bud and two sisters, Ruby and Hazel. Jimmy is survived by his wife, Betty Pierce of the home; sons, Bobby and Kim Pierce; three step daughters that loved him dearly, Sheryl Ferguson and husband, Jimmy, Nancy Denning, Pam Stanley Ashley and husband, Darrell; step grandchildren, Timmy Southard, Kevin Stanley, Dennis Denning, Joshua Ferguson, Brittany Ferguson and Kyra Moore; six step great grandchildren; brother, Chester Pierce. At Jimmy’s request there will be no formal funeral service and the family will receive friends at the home on Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to assist the family.
