Jane Rawls Timper

Jane Rawls Timper, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Jane was born in Wilmington, NC on July 7th, 1949, the daughter of Ennis Rawls and the late Lois C. Rawls. She is survived by her husband, Fred Timper of the home; her son, Reed Timper of the home; daughters, Natalie Timper of Durham and Katherine Timper also of the home; her father, Ennis Rawls and wife, Angie of Carolina Beach; brothers, Brian Rawls and wife, Venus, Terry Rawls all of Wilmington and Robbie Rawls and wife, Cindy of Fuquay Varina, NC and numerous nieces and nephews. Jane graduated from Broughton High School in Raleigh. She attended East Carolina University and later graduated from Meredith College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She married Fred Timper in 1971 and they settled in Reidsville in 1984. Jane was a dedicated employee of Rockingham Community College for 28 years. She first taught in the Adult High School and transitioned to the Math Department where she remained for ten years before her retirement in 2012. In her role as Math Lab instructor, Jane helped many students understand and appreciate mathematics – from multiplication tables to trigonometry. Her ability to explain math concepts in fundamental terms, and her patience and passion for teaching made her a favorite among students. Jane was loved and respected by her students as well as her peers, and will always hold a special place in the hearts of the RCC Family. She had a keen sense of style and it showed in her creative decorating abilities. Jane had a heart of gold and loved sharing time with her daughters, at Starbucks having a frappuccino. The family will receive friends Friday, March 28, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Dr. Bob Lowdermilk officiating. The burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens.
