Jean Baker Potter, 80, of 1914 South Park Drive, went home to be with The Lord on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday, January 13th, 2018 at Community Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Hester officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Friday evening, January 12th at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at home. Mrs. Potter was a native of Johnston County and the daughter of the late Elijah Malton and Iola Woodard Baker. She was a dedicated house wife and committed to the care of her husband. She was affectionately called “Mama Jean” by her family. She was a woman of great faith, always living with compassion for others. Her simple and caring approach to life was complimented by her endless love for her family and church. Along with her parents, Mrs. Potter was also preceded in death by her sister, Edna Earl Aycock. She is survived by her loving husband, Norwood Potter; her son, Scott Potter and wife, Melissa of Reidsville; her grandchildren, Kerri Potter and fiancé, William Atha, Lori Potter and James Potter; her brother, Glenn Baker; her sisters, Laura Lee Pittman, Pauline Eason and Marie Bunn; numerous nieces and nephews; and her extended family, including the whole Atha family, and Lewis and Elva Jackson. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Baptist Church or Community Baptist Schools, 509 Triangle Road, Reidsville, NC 27320. The family would like to extend gratitude to the Annie Penn Emergency Department, Moses Cone Critical Care ICU, Dr. Steve Luking, and Pastor Randy Hester for their care during her illness.
