Reidsville: Jean Collins Ross, 71, of 138 Huffines Mill Road, went home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at New Lebanon Christian Church with Dr. Mark Harris officiating. The burial will follow in New Lebanon Christian Church Cemetery.
Jean was born on February 28, 1944, in Rockingham County to the late Gilbert Lee and Nannie Roberts Collins. She graduated from Bethany High School. She was formerly employed by Jefferson Pilot and Wysong, and later as a teacher assistant and substitute teacher with Rockingham County Schools, where she also drove a school bus. She was a longtime and faithful member of New Lebanon Christian Church where she led the choir, ran the nursery and children’s church programs, Awana youth ministry and Circle #1 Women’s group. She liked to read and loved to travel, visiting historical sites. Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, G.L. Collins and two sisters, Brenda Kay Ware and Debra Faye Collins.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas W. Ross; her sons, Gregory Todd Ross and wife Tabatha, Brian Terrance “Terry” Ross and wife Regina and Anthony Collins “Tony” Ross and wife Christie; her grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Evan Webb, Camden, Savannah, Brady and Owen; her sisters, Margaret Pruitt, Gladys Walker and Alice Mason and husband Byrd; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews and special friend and caregiver, Addie Hale.
The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, July 20, 2015, at New Lebanon Christian Church and other times at the home.
