Jeanette Alcorn Saunders, 79, of 563 Cross Key Road, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2011 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. She was the beloved wife of Robert P. "Bobby" Saunders, who died in 1995. They were married 44 years. Except for two years living in Asheboro, NC, Jeanette and Bobby lived in the Monroeton community all their married life. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, Jeanette will be best remembered by family for her unconditional love, optimism, generosity, and joyous spirit.Funeral services will be held Friday, December 30, 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with Rev. Heath Lloyd and Rev. Gene Booker officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends during a visitation at Wilkerson Funeral Home Thursday, December 29, from 6-8 and other times at the Saunders home, 563 Cross Key Road, Reidsville.Jeanette and her twin sister, Bobbie, were born August 18, 1932, the youngest of eight children of John Alfred and Mabel Bennett Alcorn. Schools attended include Monroeton Elementary and Reidsville and Bethany High Schools. In addition to her husband and parents, Jeanette was preceded in death by her brothers, William "Billy", Numa "Buddy", James "Boots" and John Alcorn, her sister, Virginia Hall, an infant sibling, and niece, Dot Griffin.Jeanette was a lifelong member of Fairview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, served on various committees and was a faithful member of the Mission Action Group. She was also a charter member of the Monroeton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.Jeanette valued and enjoyed public work. Working in textiles and retail sales, Jeanette's employers include Cameo Mills, Glen Raven Mills, Burlington Industries, Rose Garment Company, and JC Penney in Reidsville. Her sense of humor, generosity and compassion for others, always earned her loyal friendships among co-workers, neighbors, customers, and sometimes, even strangers.Jeanette was fortunate to travel the world, as Bobby's career with NC Farm Bureau Insurance Company often involved state, national, and international travel. She loved and enjoyed the many relationships created through NCFB.Survivors include son, Mike Saunders and wife, Cindy, of Reidsville; daughter, Judy Coleman and husband, Jerry, of Summerfield; grandchildren, Michelle Turner and husband, Jason, of Reidsville; Jessica Yeatts of Reidsville; Michael Saunders and wife, Mary Lynn, of Brown Summit; and Lara Dildy and husband, Matt, of Wilmington, NC; three great-grandchildren, Ryder Dildy, Davis Turner, and Rylee Saunders; her twin sister, Bobbie A. Booker and husband, Gene, of Asheboro, NC, many nieces and nephews.The family wishes to thank all of Jeanette's caregivers, notably, the staffs of Carolina House of Reidsville, Hospice Home, and Drs.
