Reidsville: Jerry Lynn Hodnett, 66, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., on Monday, December 18, 2017, at New Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Venable officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Warner officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 5-7 P.M., on Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Jerry was born in Danville, VA, on October 31, 1951, to the late Clarence Wilson Hodnett and Thelma Meeks Hodnett. He was a retiree from American Tobacco Company where he was an electrician.
Jerry was a wonderful Christian, husband, father, grandfather, brother and brother-in-law to his family. He was a faithful member of New Heights Baptist Church where he used his great musical talents to serve his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His wife, “Lea Lea”, his children, Jamie, Jacob, Joel and Jennie Lea and his grandchildren, Brooke, Greyson and Evan were his greatest earthly possessions. He loved writing songs, playing and singing for the Lord. He was a wonderful painter and woodworker. He enjoyed fishing and going to the mountains in the fall. He was a kind and gentle man yet always ready to protect the ones he loved. As Jerry waits in Heaven for his family, he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Hodnett is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lea Ann “Lea Lea” Hodnett; his children, Jamie Lynn Hodnett and wife Melissa, Jacob Franklin Hodnett and wife Kristy, Joel Wilson Hodnett and wife Erin and Jennie Lea Hall and husband Lance; his grandchildren, Brooke Mackenzie Hodnett, Greyson McDaniel Hodnett and Evan Reed Hodnett; his brother, Dwight Hodnett and wife Gayle; his sisters, Carolyn Shelton and husband Donald and Debbie Perales; his nephews, Ethan Perales, Cody Perales and Caleb Shelton; Jerry and Lea Ann’s faithful dog Jackson and many other dear family, neighbors and friends.
