Jerry Wayne Powell

Jerry Wayne Powell, 66, passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday December 8th, 2018 at Apple’s Chapel Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Allen Myers officiating. The service will include military honors for his faithful service. Jerry was born in Rockingham County to the late, Everette “Doc” and Wilma Powell. He retired from the US Air Force with 20 years of service as a Master Sergeant. During his tenure he was recognized for Unit Leadership, Air Force Short tour and Longevity Service awards, Commendation Medals, Good Conduct and a Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Rifle Ribbon. Jerry was currently employed with H&H Propellers. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his golfing buddies. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Katrina Hagy Powell; and his brother, Julian Powell. He is survived by his sons, Joshua Lee and Jared Wayne Powell both of Henderson, NV; his step daughter, Chelsea Garner; his brother, James “Jim” Powell and wife, Peggy; his sisters, Janice Nicholson and husband, Jerry and Joy Green and husband, Ernie all of Browns Summit and a large extended family.
