Reidsville - Jesse Hugh Murray, 81, of 481 Cross Key Road passed away, Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at his home.Graveside funeral services will be held 9:00 AM Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Heath Lloyd officiating.Mr. Murray was born in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Jess Hodges and Bettie Draper Murray. He was formerly employed with the North Carolina Department of Highways and later retired from the American Tobacco Company. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church for over 68 years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He taught his family life's lessons through his wisdom and common sense. "If you're going to do something, do it right!" "Always be a man of your word!" He appreciated nature, especially sunsets and clouds, bubbling brooks and waves at the ocean. He loved fishing and was an avid baseball fan. He enjoyed watching his grandson, Josh play baseball and loved reminiscing and comparing their experiences. In his later years, he persevered with patience and endurance, his lot in life. His final words to his wife were, "I love you and thank you for all you have done for me." Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Iola M. King, Nonie M. Sipe, Eleanor M. Warren and Ethel M. Hall.Mr. Murray is survived by his wife, Nancy "Janie" Sherron Murray of the home; his daughters, Valerie "Joyce" Murray Paschal and husband, Lee and Judy Kay Murray all of Reidsville; his grandson, Joshua "Charlie Brown" Ray Martin of Knoxville, TN; his step grandson, Joshua Lee Paschal of Eden; step-granddaughter, Melanie Paschal Wiles and husband, Chris of Reidsville; special friends, Daryl and Cheryl Martin of Reidsville and several nieces and nephews.There will be no formal visitation but the family will receive friends at the home.Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2531 Flatrock Road, Reidsville, NC 27320.
