Jessie “Jack” Roberts passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at his home peacefully.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, June 26, 2017, at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville with Rev. Sandy Brown officiating. The burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens.
Jack was born in Rockingham County on April 23, 1939. He was one of eight children of James Motley Roberts and Elsie Roberts. Jack was a sailor in the United States Navy for two years and was a master welder who worked on nuclear steam stations until he opened Roberts Custom Cabinets and spent the remainder of his days crafting beautiful cabinets for people’s homes. His favorite pastime was playing golf. His most beloved task in life was caring for his wife, Modean. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Modean Hatcher Roberts and his siblings: Wayne Roberts, Mike Stiers, Ruby Knight, Frank Stiers, and Robert “Snookes” Roberts. He was also preceded in death by partners in mischief Kenneth “Bubba” Roberts and Paul Lewis.
He is survived by his children: Robin Roberts (Nancy) of Greensboro, Jessie Roberts (Christy) of Reidsville, and Ronda Crews (Rocky) of Greensboro. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Dusty Roberts, Willie Padgett, Jackson Mackey, and Cameron Mackey; and great-granddaughter Lizzie Padgett. He is also survived by his siblings Glendora Roberts and Kenneth “Knub” Roberts. He is also survived by two family pets, Buddy and Katie.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M., Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
He will be remembered as one who laughed hard, worked hard, and cared for his family.
