JoAnne Lauder

JoAnne Lauder, 80, of Manhattan, NY was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 24, 2021 at Fairview Nursing Center.

A committal service will be held Friday, August 13, 2021 at 1:30 PM at Ruffin Cemetery prior to a celebration of her life at 2:00 PM at Ruffin United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Eggers officiating.

JoAnne was born in Reidsville, June 12, 1941, to the late George and Pauline Truslow Lauder. She attended Ruffin School from 1st to 12th grade and graduated valedictorian in 1959. She attended WC (UNCG) in Greensboro and transferred to UNC Chapel Hill and graduated with a BA in Art History.

Her lifelong dream was to live in New York City, and she moved there in 1968 where she remained the rest of her life. She worked in a museum and later in retail sales in jewelry and furniture. She was the owner and operator of Interiors by Design. JoAnne never met a stranger and loved to start up conversation with anyone that would listen

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister Linda Lauder Starr; nephew Matthew D. Starr; brother-in-law Jule McMichael, Jr.

JoAnne is survived by her sister Barbara Lauder McMichael; brother-in-law Doug Starr and wife Pam; niece Rachel Starr; nephews Jule McMichael, III and Penn McMichael; and 6 great nieces and nephews.
