Joanne Strader Stokes

Joanne Strader Stokes, 87 of Eden passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Joe Hout officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Tammie Hill.

Mrs. Stokes was born and resided in Rockingham County. She was employed for a number of years with Rockingham County Schools . She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Bobby G Knighten, (father of her children) and Charles William Stokes; parents, Fletcher and Elsie Scearce Strader and sister, Sybil S Jones.

Joanne is survived by her daughter, Tammie K. Hill and husband, Joey of Eden, NC; son, Steven R. Knighten and wife, Gloria of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Crissy and Ryan Hill of Eden, NC and Heather T. Pennycuff of Victoria, Tx; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Margie S. Allen of Ruffin, NC; 2 nephews, 1 niece and 1 great niece as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
