John David Compton, Sr.

Reidsville: John David Compton, Sr., 88, of 2233 South Scales Street, passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 12, 2015, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Clayton, Rev. Ron Tuck and Rev. David Gilbert officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Mr. Compton was born in Pittsylvania County, Va., to the late Robert Lee and Mary Oakes Compton Walker. He was the owner and operator of Compton TV service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lelia Compton, son, Keith Compton, son-in-law, Gerald Daniels, brother, Major Compton, half brothers, Ed Walker and Doug Walker. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Pam Compton Daniels, Wilma Compton Lucas and husband, Dwight, John David Compton, Jr. and wife, Kathy and Rob Compton and wife, Donna. He had eight grandchildren, Christopher Daniels and wife, Dena, Jonathan Daniels and wife, Jenny, Dusty Lucas and wife, Katie, David Compton, III, Adam Compton, Kyle Compton, Emily Sizemore and Katie Sizemore. He also had six great grandchildren, Annie, Samuel, Max, Colin, Finn and Lucy Daniels. The family would like to thank special friend, Dianne Wilson. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Wilkerson Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and other times at 2233 South Scales Street.
