John Gilbert Ford

Reidsville -John Gilbert Ford, 76, of 184 Grady Road, died on Monday, August 15, 2011 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral service will be held 2:00 P. M., Thursday, August 18, 2011 at East Side Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Reidlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dwayne Smith, Jeremy Cobb, Kenneth Ford, Clayburn Walker, Skip Gunn and Davis Dixon. Mr. Ford was born in Caswell County to the late Thomas Hunter and Mary Bessie Fuqua Ford. He was retired from Sears with over 35 years of service and attended East Side Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman. John loved to play baseball and softball and was an avid golfer and hunter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 7 brothers and 3 sisters.He is survived by his wife, Peggy Smith Ford of the home; daughter, Wendy Ford of Reidsville; brothers, Bernice Stanley Ford of Greensboro and Arthur Owen Ford of Graham; numerous nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at East Side Baptist Church from 6 to 8 P.M. and other times at the residence.Memorial contributions may be made to East Side Baptist Church, Building Fund, 1859 Barnes Street, Reidsville, N.C. 27320
