John William Griffin

John “Jay” William Griffin, 76, of Mebane, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 16, 2023.

A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memory Garden on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Keith Porter officiating.

Jay was born in Rockingham County to the late William Walker Griffin and Dura Cummings Griffin.   He was a retired plant manager with Mebane Packaging Corp.  He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and golfing.  Jay most loved spending time with his family at the lake house in Leasburg.  He loved October’s at the beach spending time with his family and fishing with his buddies and of course the famous Griffin Fish Fry’s. 

Jay was a loving gentle man with a kind heart, always ready to help out anyone in need.  He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by two daughters, Amy and Barbara Griffin; his brother, Bobby Griffin and sister, Mary Lee Draper.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patricia “Pat” Griffin; daughters, Laurie G McAlister and husband, Jeff and Dawn G Riggleman and husband, Jesse; grandchildren, Mackenzie Brown, Emma and Jenna Riggleman; sister-in-law, Linda S. Vestal as well as a large and loving group of extended family and friends.
