John Hancock, 55, suddenly passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at his home. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 4:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Julius Koonce officiating.
Mr. Hancock was born in Danville, VA on January 27, 1962. John was an awesome and caring nurse. He had a very positive outlook on life and loved caring for his patients. He far exceeded expectations in his work and was a jack-of-all trades. He served his country in the US Air Force. His hobbies included visiting thrift stores and vacationing at the beach. He spent most of his time with his family and friends. John was employeed by Caring Hands Home Health of Greensboro. His patients loved how he cared for them beyond what was required of him, especially one named Betty.
John was preceded in death by his father, Harold Hancock and sister, Teresa Hancock.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley Ann Hancock of Pelham; a brother, Roger Hancock of Pelham; and sister, Kim Gwynn of Reidsville; nephew, Daniel Lawrence and nieces: Brooke Lee Hancock and Helen Gwynn; aunts: Linda Southard and Linda Hancock of Pelham; the staff of Caring Hands Home Health, Inc. including: Richele Wilkins, Mary Reid, Vickie McMillan, Monica Lee, Sherie Thompson, Latoi Hill, Seneca Wright, Pastor Julius Koonce and Tashonta Makupson; and his dog, “Chase.”
