John Paul Jones

Elon: John Paul Jones, 61, of 736 Boone Road, died on Friday, January 1, 2010, at his residence.Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010, at Wilkerson Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Wayne Smithey officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Cole, Douglas Shane Southard, Johnnie Isley, William Travis Craven, Clarence Samuel Poythress, Jr. and John Paul Southard. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites.Mr. Jones was born in Rockingham County to the late Adam and Frances Bibee Jones. He was of the Baptist faith and loved his family very much, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was retired from Smithey logging. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James William Jones.He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Smith Jones, of the home; step-sons, Douglas Franklin Southard, Jr. of Lawsonville, and Bruce Wayne Southard of Eden; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Jerrita Roland and husband, Doug of Eden, Sarah Totten and husband, Denny of Reidsville and Linda Roop and husband, Archie of Patrick Springs, Va. The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home on Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 6:00 -8:00 PM. and other times at the residence.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Alamance/Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, North Carolina 27215-6715
