John William Laws

Reidsville – John William Laws, 91, passed away, Sunday, February 3, 2008 at Britthaven of Madison. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gene Glass and Rev. Craig Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Reidlawn cemetery with military graveside rites. Mr. Laws was born in Stokes County to the late Zolly and Elnora Marshall Laws. He was a veteran serving in the US Army during WWII and was a recipient of several medals. John was a welder helper and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway. He was a member of White Rock Church of the Nazererene. Mr. Laws enjoyed making crafts such as lighthouses and Christmas decorations , going to the mall, and listening to gospel and country music. John was a loving person who was wiling to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed it. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ross Laws and son, Larry Wayne Laws. Survivors include his son, Ronnie Wesley Laws of Reidsville; daughter, Edna Laws Talley and husband, James of Reidsville; brother, Dillard Laws and wife, Laura of Reidsville; sisters, Thelma Laws Mathis and husband, Harry of Wilmington, Betty Laws Hicks and husband Bailey of Reidsville and Billie Laws Cardwell of Reidsville. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, February 5 from 7-9 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence of daughter, Edna Talley, 803 Barnes Street, Reidsville.
