John Michael Lewis

Reidsville – John Michael “Mike” Lewis, 73 of 1119 Larkwood Drive, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church where Mike was a member and lifelong choir member. Dr. Doug McLeroy will officiate and the interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Mike was born in Mecklenburg County to the late J. Edwin and Louise Scott Lewis and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was a retiree of NC Gas (NUI) (AGL) where he worked for 33 and one half years, and a former employee of Radio Shack for 12 years. He was a member of the Rockingham County Amateur Club with his call sign being KD4CSJ (RCARC) and a former member of the Dan River Squadron Air Patrol and enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife, Fran Lewis; children, Alan Michael Lewis and Catherine Lewis Whitley; grandchildren, Jennifer Lenehan Whitley, Garrett Michael Whitley and Hillary Whitley Crutchfield; great grandchildren, Allison Paige Foust and Avery Marie Crutchfield and brother, Wayne Scott Lewis. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m. on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
