John Michael Black

John Michael Black, a beloved member of his family and the community, passed away on November 1, 2024, at Annie Penn Hospital. Born on October 19, 1942, in Rockingham County, John lived a life full of creativity, dedication, and love.

A graveside inurnment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at Reidlawn Cemetery.

He served honorably in the United States Air Force, demonstrating his commitment to his country and instilling a sense of duty that he carried throughout his life. John was a true jack of all trades; he embraced varied hobbies that showcased his artistic talents and mechanical skills. He found joy in crafting, building birdhouses, creating gun stocks, and expressing his artistic side through drawing and painting.

John is survived by his loving wife, Judy Black, who stood by him through all of life's adventures. He was a proud father to his daughters, Jennifer Edwards and Angela Denise Mangum, and his sons, TJ Black and Anthony Christian Black. He also shared a close bond with his sister, Ann Neal, and his brother, David Black; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Joseph Griggs Black and Nancy Elizabeth Black, along with his daughter, Ashley Nicole Black, and son, Michael Black. John's legacy will be cherished by all who knew him, and he will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, creativity, and unwavering love for his family.
