John Paul Pulliam

Reidsville – John Paul Pulliam, Sr., 82, of 1279 US Business 29, passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Reidsville Alliance Church with Pastor Norm Davis officiating. The interment will follow at Evergreen Memory Gardens. Mr. Pulliam was born in Stokes County to the late Roy Vertle and Brooksie Watkins Pulliam. He was retired as a plasterer and was a partner at Pulliam’s Grocery. He attended Reidsville Alliance Church. He was a little league baseball coach and was sometimes known as the umpire and referees “worst nightmare”. He was a NASCAR fan and loved the Yankees. Mr. Pulliam was a member of the Short Sugars “Breakfast Club”. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Drewey Pulliam. Mr. Pulliam is survived by his wife, Dorothy Billingsley Pulliam of the home; his son, John Paul Pulliam, Jr. and wife, Christy; his daughter, Joyce Priddy and husband, Donald all of Reidsville; his grandchildren, John Lewis Pulliam and wife, Heather, Jennifer Dowl Priddy, T.J. Davis and wife, Lynlee, Cale William Priddy, Brandon Wayne Pulliam and wife, Leslie, Mindy Jo Pulliam and fiance’, Hunter Huffines; great grandchildren, Maggie Ramsey, Makayla Davis, Luke Pulliam and Miranda Davis; brothers, Thomas Pulliam and wife, Jo of Sanford, NC, William “Billy” Pulliam and wife, Lucille of Madison and Donald Pulliam and wife, Yvonne of Stoneville; sisters, Gaynell Land of Reidsville, Ellene Manuel of Mayodan, Anne Whitley of Rocky Mount, NC and Shirley Boles and husband, Wimpy of Mayodan and a large extended family. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 15 from 6-8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
