John Langston Southard

Reidsville: John Langston Southard, 78, of 152 Davidson Drive, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Lemons, Rev Nila Souther and Rev. Tyler Gauldin officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens with military rites performed by the Rockingham County Honor Guard. Mr. Southard was born in Danville, Virginia to the late Hugh and Lillie Rakes Southard. He was self employed as a contractor and was a member of McLeansville Baptist Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Southard and a brother, Leonard Southard. Survivors include his wife, Ramona Southard; daughter, Regina Mathis and husband, Jeff; sons, Randy Southard and wife, Ginger and Roy Southard and wife, Kim Brust Southard; grandchildren, April Newman, Scott Grogan, Annie Southard and Paige Craddock; eleven step-grandchildren; brothers, Joe, Bill, Albert and Kenneth Southard; sisters, Myrtle Kernodle, Mary Jane Southard and Donna Boyd. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
